第3章「テレビの『重大犯罪』を風化させてはならない！」は、TBSが犯したテレビ史上最悪の大事件、オウムの「坂本弁護士一家殺人事件」に言及した内容です。
TBSが坂本弁護士の情報ビデオを事前にオウム幹部に見せたというのです。
その9日後に坂本弁護士一家は殺害されました。
しかもそのことが発覚したのは、失踪から「6年後」、日本テレビの報道番組内でということです。
さらにTBSはオウム真理教に対して「インタビュー映像を見せたことを秘密にしておくように約束させた」とあります。
当初TBS側は事実無根と言い逃れ、そのうち元オウム信者が一連のやり取りを自供したため発覚、改めてTBSは謝罪。筑紫哲也氏は「TBSは今日、死んだに等しいと思います」と発言したと言います。
先日の「世界の怖い夜」も、翌日には心霊写真の合成が明るみになって、それも勝手に借用したものというお粗末さ、TBSは「回答を控える」などと嘯いています。
長年、夏の風物詩として子供たちも好きな番組でしたが、子供たちも今回ばかりはバカバカしいと思ったことでしょう。
テレビ朝日の「椿事件」は、「放送法違反による放送免許取り消し処分が本格的に検討された事件」とうことで紹介されていました。
この事件は、当時テレビ朝日の取締役報道局長であった椿貞良氏が民放連の会合で言った言葉が問題視されました。
「選挙戦の際には自民党政権（宮沢喜一内閣）の存続を阻止せよ」
これは「特定の政党への投票を誘導する」という「局全体で意図的に加担した、テレビ朝日の政治運動」で放送法違反ということです。
しかし、オウムと同様免許取り消しが上がったようですが、「厳重注意」で済んでしまいました。
事実上、「社会的に許されてしまった」ということです。
このことは、「テレビ局を掌握しさえすれば、選挙に勝てる。政権の座につくことができる」ということをメディアに認識させました。
